Couldn't be bothered to travel anywhere to photo this mainly because of the mass cloud gathering early morning, but large blue patches appeared so i had to take a shot even though i was not in a position to get the whole train in. Saying that i opted to include the former GWR General Offices in the shot. A great building it is too. 6024 King Edward 1st barks away from an unscheduled stop on a Bristol TM - Paddington tour. Due to recent lineside fires caused by Steam trains, Network Rail have ordered a diesel to assist with this working and take most of the strain to prevent the Steam loco from emitting sparks. So here 37706 does it's best to spoil the sound of 5029 'Nunney Castle' on the Cathedrals Express from Clapham Junction - Worcester SH. The unusual combination is pictured at Highworth Junction footbridge running about 40 minutes late. (01-07-2010)
GWR 4-6-0 Castle Class, 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' thunders through Culham, Oxfordshire, with a Vintage Trains excursion from Solihull - Slough. This train ran as part of the 175 years of the GWR celebrations. 37516 was on the rear. The coach behind the loco is former Motorail van No. 96175 which is now a water carrying vehicle. (16-04-2010)
